I have owned the black frame version of these glasses for years. I finally dropped them and chipped the lens right in the middle so they had to be replaced. I was a bit concerned that Bausch & Lomb had sold Ray Ban to Luxotica because I was not sure whether the quality had been maintained. Well, I took the plunge and ordered these on Monday, and they were in my mailbox on Saturday. Aside from many years worth of wear on my old ones, they are identical. I can discern no difference in quality or construction. I am very happy to say that I can still recommend Ray Ban with no reservations. I am also happy to say that I saved a nice chunk of change going through Amazon and Ezcontacts. If you are like me and have a large face, I highly recommend these sunglasses. They are the extra-large frames/lenses so they fit me very well. They offer excellent UV protection. The lenses are tinted a nice, neutral gray-green so they are useful for driving, the beach, the park, you name it. On top of all that these aviator sunglasses are a classic design; they may never go out of style. You might find better shades, but not at anything close to the price.

Product Review :

The postwar space age-era design of Ray-Ban Wayfarers has never gone out of style. I prefer the tortoise frame with non-polarized green/grayish lenses, instead of black frames, to stay clear of the "Jake Blues" or ‘Tom Cruise in "Risky Business"’ look. (But Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, James Dean, Roy Orbison, John Lennon, Kim Novak, JFK, Elvis Costello and Deborah Harry are good company.)

Green lenses are great for driving and are free of visible distortion, as you would expect from Ray-Bans. Cheap copies do not provide this. Reduction of glare is ample, with minimal disruption of color.

The fit is more dressy than sporty: somewhat clunky but not uncomfortable, and over the temples, gentler than expected. The hinges are intended to allow the stems to overextend slightly, and the manufacturer includes what appears to be a spring catch not resistant enough to snap. I decided not to try to tighten these as I became used to the fit.

Consider a larger frame than 50mm if your body type or hat size warrants it, such as the Wayfarer II frame, as this 50mm Wayfarer model will appear too small on big and tall men.

Purchasing from a reputable sunglass retailer by online auction undercuts huge retail markup (about 40%, or over $50.00 for me) on name brand sunglasses, online and in the mall, if you know exactly what you are looking for by color, size and model number. Consistently solid buyer feedback in the thousands will protect against counterfeiting.

These are definitely the best pair I sunglasses I have ever purchased. They were so light I could barely tell I was wearing them, and the polarization combined with the anti-glare coating was great for basically anything I did outdoors, including flying. I never had any glare issues, thought the optical quality was wonderful, and would definitely buy these again.

Even though these sunglasses are not perfect when they arrive they have still earned a 5 star rating. I nought 9 pair. 3 silver, 3 green, and 3 red. They look great but they take some work to get there. As any pair of sunglasses, they require some bending to fit your face. So if you get them spend a couple of minutes bending them to you desired preference. And then of course you need to clean the fingerprints off (with warm water and soap). They had some surface scratches when they arrived. Not any problem when looking through them, and it’s not like they are never going to get tiny little surfece scratches on them as you wear them. I lose and break sunglasses all the time and my eyes are very sensitive to bright light. Aviators are great because they are designed for pilots. They keep the light out of your eyes and give you a wide field of view. Some people said that they are too dark. Out of the 9 pair I got 1 (one of the green ones) that was really dark. The darkness of the glass is kind of inconsistent among oll the pairs but i like that because you never know how bright it’s going to be outside. Some people said that they weren’t great for driving, but have you ever driven through the desert. The dark ones are perfect for that. The red pairs are great for driving they are not at all too dark and they are especially good for driving at dawn and dusk, they dim the light enough but let you see what’s in the shadows.(the three kinds i got, the green was darkest, the silver was a good darkness, and the red were the least dark) So overall if you want some great sunglasses for the price, get these. As I said i’m very sensitive to light and these sunglasses are perfect for that. They look great, they work well and they are cheap. If you’re like me and lose sunglasses like there’s no tomorrow just get a bunch of them, if you want to, try the different colors and enjoy! SO even though they are not perfect, I love these sunglasses and I definitely recommend them.
